About Me
I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor(LMHC) with a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle. In addition, I have a B.Sc. (Nursing) degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and a B.A (Psychology) degree from the University of Tasmania, Australia. I have worked as a registered nurse for over 20 years in various specialties, including bariatric surgery, and management of chronic pain.
It has been my privilege in life to live and work in three glorious countries: South Africa, Australia, and the USA. I received my 4-year nursing degree from the University of Cape Town in 1988, and have worked as a registered nurse since that time on three continents in a variety of specialties. I lived, studied, and worked in Australia for over 6 years, then moved to Seattle in 2001. I completed my Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2009, including a one-year internship at the University of Washington Hall Health Mental Health clinic. My experiences as a woman, wife, and mother, as well as multiple transitions to new countries and cultures, have provided abundant joys and challenges. These have increased my understanding and awareness of my personal strengths and limitations, and deepened my commitment to ongoing growth and development throughout life.
